As I look at this photo, I look back at this 10 year old girl whom, though she looks unkept and dishevelled (lol, thank God for growth ay), I am reminded of her innocence, her focus and most importantly, her dreams; the confidence she had in herself to be great; and her desire to soar to heights she could only dream of. 18 years later and I have started to catch glimpses of myself in this girl again.
Life has a way of tossing us about and making us feel inadequate. Of suppressing our dreams & haunting us with mediocrity.
Today I would like to encourage you – if only but one person – that as Lupita Nyongo so eloquently put it, your dreams are valid.
Fast, pray and fight for the little girl or boy in you who wanted to be somebody. After all, God calls us to live a life of greatness.
Ellen G. White too says “Dear youth, what is the aim and purpose of your life?.. Have you thoughts that you dare not express that you may one day stand upon the summit of intellectual greatness…? There is nothing wrong in these aspirations. You may every one of you make your mark. You should be content with no mean attainments. Aim high, and spare no pains to reach the standard.” | Messages to Young People, pg. 36
Go on, dream on, be strong and live a life of greatness. And make the younger you proud.
